The PPL Course

Overview of the Private Pilot Licence
Whether you want to learn to fly for leisure or take the first step toward becoming a fully qualified commercial pilot, the Private Pilot Licence (PPL) is the perfect starting point for your training.

Our Private Pilot Licence (PPL) Training Course is structured to fully prepare you for both the theory exams and practical skill test, allowing you to obtain your rating to fly Single Engine Piston aircraft. Once qualified, you can continue to expand your skills by adding additional ratings to your licence, such as Night and Multi-Engine, as you gain experience and develop into a more proficient private pilot.

What does our PPL training look like?
At AeroQuest Flight Training, our PPL courses are designed to help you pass your tests smoothly and efficiently, minimizing unnecessary stress along the way.

We support you at every step of your journey, starting with assisting you in obtaining your Medical Clearance from a CAA-approved Aero-Medical Examiner. From there, our experienced flight trainers will guide you through the practical aspects of flying, ensuring you complete the required minimum of 45 flight hours - including at least 10 hours of Solo Flying - to build your confidence and competence in piloting an aircraft independently. In addition to Hands-On flight training, you will also need to complete nine theory examinations covering the following essential aviation subjects.
Aviation Law
Human Performance
Meteorology
Communications
Principles of Flight
Navigation
Flight Performance & Planning
Aircraft General Knowledge
Operational Procedures
Our comprehensive training ensures that you achieve well above the 75% pass mark on all theory tests, equipping you with the knowledge and skills necessary to fly safely and confidently. With AeroQuest Flight Training you will be fully prepared to take to the skies on your own.

Who can get a PPL Licence?
To get started you will need to ensure you are medically fit to fly by obtaining a Class 2 (Private Pilot) Medical Certificate from a CAA-authorised Medical Examiner. If you need help finding an approved examiner, feel free to get in touch with us - We would be happy to assist you in arranging your medical check. Alternatively, you can locate your nearest CAA Medical Examiner below.
No additional qualifications are required—not even a university degree. All you need are a few GCSEs and fluency in English to begin your training.

What can you fly?
Once you have obtained your Private Pilot Licence (PPL), you will be certified to fly Single Engine Piston (SEP) aircraft. SEPs are among the most commonly flown aircraft by private pilots, offering you the freedom to take to the skies and explore the world from above.

If you are interested in expanding your qualifications, you may consider obtaining additional ratings, such as a Night Rating or Multi-Engine Piston (MEP) rating, allowing you to fly different types of aircraft and in a wider range of conditions. Your PPL is recognized across the UK and the EU and can also be easily converted for use in other countries, including the USA, providing even greater opportunities for international flying.
